St. Louis de Montfort’s 2010 Fall Festival: A True Celebration
If there's one thing we Catholics know how to do, its celebrate! Sure, we recognize the importance of a hard day s work, but at the end of the day, a little bit of old-fashioned celebrating is every bit as important as the work itself. Celebrations draw from within us gratitude for the gifts God has bestowed upon us.
In the life of the Church, days of thanksgiving and celebration are referred to as feasts. Many years ago, parishioners at St. Louis de Montfort decided that our life as a faith community was such an important gift that it deserved to be celebrated as a feast. The annual Fall Festival was the end result. Every year since then, our parish has set aside a day shortly after the first day of fall, not for raising money or performing acts of service but for the sole purpose of celebrating our life together as a parish. The next festival is September 18, 2010.
The festival itself will include all of our favorite entertainment, rides, games, food and refreshments from years past; for the kids, it will have inflatables, games and fabulous prizes. For everyone's enjoyment, a DJ will entertain the crowds with fabulous music selections throughout the day and evening. Later in the evening, the festival will have a band. In addition to the delicious food, adults can help themselves to beverages at the Beer and Wine Garden.
On behalf of the parish, Mike Behan and Rick & Lynn Wajda, co-chairs of the festival, would like to thank all who are helping plan this years festival, as well as those who will volunteer to help where needed. "It takes 300 to 350 people to make the festival happen on the day of the festival," Mike says.
