About Music at SLDM

Liturgy reflects who we are as a praying, worshiping community.  Music helps to achieve this goal.  At St. Louis de Montefort, our music ministry is comprised of musical groups of various styles, cantors and instrumentalists who enhance the liturgy by leading the assembly in sung prayer.  Our purpose is bringing the good news to people through the musical word.

THE CELEBRATION SINGERS

We are an ensemble of singers and instrumentalists who enjoy all types of worship music ranging from traditional hymns to contemporary classics.  We welcome singers and instrumentalists with all levels of musical ability and experience. Please join us and help serve the congregation through music. We do not require a firm commitment to participate each week—come when you can.

Rehearsals: Saturday, 4 p.m. choir room. (The group will also rehearse one Tuesday per month to go over new material and learn choral parts.)

Mass: Saturday, 5 p.m.

THE PRAISE BAND

The Praise Band plays contemporary Christian music using voices, guitars and a variety of instruments.

Rehearsal:  Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

Mass: Sunday, 9:00 a.m.

PARISH CHOIR

The Parish Choir is the traditional choir of the Parish musical community. The goals of the group are as follows:

Goals

• To build a musical community at St. Louis de Montfort for parishioners, staff, and neighborhood residents and workers.
• To lead congregational singing, not only when singing from the chancel, but also when singing as part of the congregation.
• To offer an opportunity for a quality, part-time commitment for those seeking to be part of the musical community at St. Louis de Montfort

Rehearsal:  Thursday, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

Mass:  Sunday, 11:30 a.m.
