“The sheep hear his voice, as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” John 10:3At St. Louis de Montfort we are blessed to offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. CGS, as it is often referred to, is a Montessori influenced faith formation experience that is threefold:
1. The child2. The adult catechist3. The prepared environment (called the atrium), which is filled with beautifully handmade child size materials.
While in the atrium, children are invited into prayer, given a presentation that is based on Scripture or liturgy, and allotted time for personal work. The catechist guides every child's need to “help me come closer to God by myself.” St. Louis de Montfort offers CGS Level I (Age3-Kindergarten) and Level 2 (Grades 1st-3rd). Both levels meet weekly for 75 - 120 minutes in one of our two atria. -

CGS Level I (Age3-Kindergarten)-
The Level I atrium is open to children 3 years of age by August 1st and fully potty trained through Kindergarten. Our Level I atrium times for the 2024-25 academic year are:
- Sunday 8:30 - 9:45AM
- Sunday 10:15 - 11:30AM
- Monday 8:30 - 10:30AM
- Monday 4:00 - 5:15PM
- Wednesday 5:00 - 6:30PM
CGS Level II (Grades 1-3)-
The Level II atrium is open to all first, second, and third grade parish children. Our Level II atrium times for the 2024-25 academic year are:
- Sunday 8:30 - 9:45AM
- Sunday 10:15 - 11:30AM
- Monday, 8:30 - 10:30AM
- Monday 4:00 - 5:15PM
- Wednesday 5:00 - 6:30PM
Parents are asked to assist in preparing and restoring the atrium space on a rotating basis.
Note: Parents who wish to bring a child forward to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion in second grade should be sure to enroll their child in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd as a first grader (if not before).

Volunteer & Catechist Information
“It’s the work of the catechist to become the child’s humble servant by providing what is age-appropriate so the child can hear and respond at an age- appropriate level to the Good Shepherd speaking within him or her.”

We are in need of adult volunteers to assist catechists in both our school and parish atriums. You may request to assist in your child’s atrium or in any atrium that needs another adult. School atriums meet on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Parish atriums meet Sunday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening, and Thursday afternoon.
If you are interested in becoming a catechist, assisting in an atrium, or viewing an atrium, please fill out THIS FORM.
